West Virginia Social Security Benefits Going Paperless
< < Back to ?p=8848More than 63,000 Social Security and Supplementary Security Income recipients in West Virginia still receive paper benefit checks.
That will charge March 1, when the federal government switches all benefit and non-tax government payments to electronic payments.
Federal data show West Virginia has the highest percentage of Social Security and SSI recipients who receive paper checks at 12 percent.
West Virginia AARP director Tom Hunter tells the Charleston Daily Mail that many older residents have resisted the switch to electronic payments.
He says AARP is going to make a push to notify people of the change.
