Cooper Receives Co-MAC Player of the Week
< < Back to cooper-receives-co-mac-player-weekThe successful season continues for D.J. Cooper, as the Mid-American Conference announced Monday that the Ohio guard was named the Co-MAC East Division Player of the Week with Akron’s Zeke Marshall.
This marks the fourth time in six weeks that Cooper receives this conference honor. He is the only player in the conference to be named Player of the Week four times.
Cooper led the Bobcats to their seventh straight victory on Saturday in their 69-68 victory over Kent State by hitting the game-winning free throws in the final minute. The senior also tied his season-high of 23 points and contributed five assists and three steals on the night. He also added 17 points, nine assists and seven rebounds in the Bobcats’ win over Miami.
Cooper averaged 20.0 points, 7.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals in the two games last week, becoming the first player in Ohio history to record 300 career steals and boosting his MAC-leading career assists number to 855. He is also tied for 20th all-time in NCAA Division I history for his career assists.
Marshall averaged 13.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 7.5 blocks in Akron’s two wins last week. Ohio will be taking on Marshall and the Akron Zips on Saturday in Akron, Oh. at 5 p.m.
