OU Police Chief: Armed Robbery Suspect Not Likely In Athens
< < Back toUPDATE 7:50 PM Ohio University's police chief says it is unlikely that the armed robbery suspect responsible for the university's closure Wednesday is still in the Athens area.
Chief Andrew Powers said additional police officers will remain on duty throughout the night as a measure of precaution. He said additional officers were called in this morning to help locate the suspect, but there have been no confirmed sightings since police responded to the incident this morning.
"We've had a lot of calls from people who matched the description we provided, but no confirmed sightings, so that's why I don't believe there is an ongoing threat to the campus as a result of the incident this morning," said Powers.
