Vienna Councilman Arrested For Drunken Driving
< < Back to vienna-councilman-arrested-drunken-drivingA Vienna city councilman faces a drunken driving charge after getting pulled over by a Wood County Sheriff's deputy.
According to the criminal complaint Paul Thorton, 61, was stopped and arrested by Deputy Z.M. Schaad after nearly running off the road near Boaz, West Virginia on Sunday.
The complaint says Thorton's blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit.
Mayor Randy Rapp of Vienna says that the councilman's arrest is a personal matter and that there is no provision in the state code that requires an elected official resign if convicted of a DUI.
