The Ohio Bobcat baseball team (0-4) lost the second game of their doubleheader to New Mexico State (4-2), 7-0.

New Mexico State got on the board early and never looked back, as first baseman Michael Paulson hit two solo home runs to give the Aggies a 2-0 lead after five innings.

That ended the night for Ohio starter Connor Sitz, who allowed two runs on four hits in five innings.

The relievers did not fare well for the Bobcats, especially in the sixth inning. Brian Burkhart walked four batters and threw two wild pitches before being pulled, while Brett Barber came in and walked in another run before the inning ended with a 4-0 Aggies lead.

Meanwhile, New Mexico State’s starting pitcher Adam Mott went seven innings, allowing five hits and only walking one batter.

The final scoring of the game came in the ninth inning when Aggies shortstop Parker Hipp hit a three-run home run to make it 7-0.

Aggies reliever Ryan Beck came in and finished off the game pitching the eighth and ninth innings, only allowing one hit and one walk.

This was the second game of three the Bobcats will play in the LeClair Classic. Ohio will play Boston College on Saturday.
