Trimble’s Playoff Run Ends
< < Back to trimbles-playoff-run-endsThe Trimble Tomcats' season came to an end Tuesday night, as they fell to the Miller Falcons, 65-54, in the Sectional Finals. It was a heartbreaking end to the season for the Tomcats, as they played three tough quarters before falling apart in the fourth.
After only trailing 49-45 after the third quarter, the Tomcats only managed to score nine points in the fourth quarter, on 3-of-18 shooting.
Senior Skylar Hook and junior Hunter Starlin led the Falcons, combining for 43 points. Hook added in eight rebounds while Starlin had eight assists. The Falcons shot 35 percent from behind the arc, while the Tomcats only shot a mere 6 percent.
For the Tomcats, junior leaders Jacob Koons and Jake Kish only combined for one point. With the lack of offense from the two juniors, it forced unlikely contributors Wyatt Deak and Justice Jenkins to step up.
Deak, a senior, had a strong ending to his career as a Tomcat, scoring 14 points along with a pair of blocks. Jenkins, who is only a freshman, led the Tomcats with 15 points.
With the win, the Falcons move on to play the winner of No. 2 South Webster and No. 10 Glenwood in the Convocation Center.
The Tomcats finished the season 10-13, an eight-game improvement from last year. With 12 players with varsity experience returning, the Tomcats will look to make more improvements next year, and make some noise in the TVC-Hocking.
