O’Betty’s Owner Closes Union Street Location

O’Betty’s Red Hot! Dogs & Sausages on Union Street is no longer serving up its famous hot dogs and chili fries.
Owner Bob Satmary said all his employees at the 30. W. Union St. location will be getting two weeks of severance pay.
The second store closed after being open since January of last year, and although business was "good", it wasn't enough to keep it open.
"The return wasn't as great as I thought it would be," he said.
The original location on 15 W. State St. will remain open for business.
"Athens is almost big enough for two O'betty's," he said. "I'm glad I did it. We got a lot of great exposure from the Union Street restaurant."
