Sister Act is the feel-good musical comedy smash based on the hit 1992 film that has audiences jumping to their feet! Featuring original music by Tony- and eight-time Oscar winner, Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors), this uplifting musical was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
When disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won’t be a found: a convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Soon, the gang is giving chase, only to find them up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood.
This show was ready to open two years ago, just as everything shut down for the pandemic, so our amazing cast has been practicing songs and dance moves for two years. This show will touch your heart and make you happy!
EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 1ST, 2021, Stuart’s Opera House will require proof of full vaccination ONLY. This requirement is for all audience, staff, volunteers, special event staff, and performers ages 12 and over. In addition to this change, all guests will be required to stay fully masked within all Stuart’s Opera House spaces. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you. Children between the ages of 5-11 (those currently unable to receive a vaccination) will be required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken 72 hours or less prior to attending any event at Stuart’s Opera House. This could be a rapid, PCR or an at-home test (no video-proctored electronic result required for those 5-11 years old). All children under 12 will need to arrive with a parent, legal guardian or adult who can confirm the negative test. Children under 5 do not need to show a negative test result; however, we still highly recommend that you have your kids tested if possible. We trust that parents will handle the situation responsibly and as they feel most comfortable.
Directed and conducted by Devin Sudman. Cast includes Jaliyah Townsend, Linda Watkins, Abby Swintek, Celeste Parsons, Jeremy Hayes, Esteban Vazquez, and Joe Balding as Monsignor O’Hara.
