Annual Seed Giveaway
April 8
Athens County, OH – Monday, April 8, 2023, Community Food Initiatives (CFI) will kick off their Annual Seed Giveaway at all Athens County Public Library branches. A varied selection of seed packets will be available at each library branch starting Monday, April 8; seeds are free and available to any community member while supplies last, registration not required.
The CFI seed giveaway is held in partnership with Athens County Public Libraries, and made possible through generous donations of seeds received from community members, local businesses and organizations, seed companies, and Jackson Area Ministries in Jackson, OH.
CFI will also host a plant-start giveaway in early May. Updates on these garden giveaways will be posted on the CFI Facebook page.
If you would like to donate seeds for CFI’s seed giveaway, or if you would like to raise plant starts to donate for CFI’s plant start giveaway, please contact Community Gardens Coordinator Amy Fugikawa at gardens@communityfoodinitiatives.org.
Community Food Initiatives hosts garden giveaways every year as part of their mission to foster communities where everyone has equitable access to healthy, local food. Participants are encouraged to join CFI’s Grow and Share team by donating a portion of their harvest to the Donation Station.
CFI’s programs include the Donation Station, School Gardens, Community Gardens, Veggie Van, and Nourishing Networks community training and support. These initiatives support an equitable local food system that is good for people, planet, and our economy. CFI programs and community collaborations work toward a resilient and sustainable region where everyone is nourished by a just, inclusive, and thriving local food system.
