The historic Peoples Bank Theatre is proud to present ‘Simon and Garfunkel Through the Years,’ the world’s most authentic sounding theatre show of its kind. With moving and powerful live performances and multimedia, the show takes a chronological journey through the music and behind the scenes of the greatest ever folk-rock duo.
The show features interviews with Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, original movie footage and mind-blowing live performances of hits like Mrs Robinson, The Boxer, Homeward Bound and the incredible Bridge Over Troubled Water.
Dan Haynes and Pete Richards make up Bookends who perform the songs in a truly captivating way, their delicate recreation of the unmistakable sound of the American folk-rock duo has been described by many as spellbinding.
Backed by a live string quartet, the show also features narration written by Victoria Kingston, the author of Simon and Garfunkel – The Definitive Biography.
The show has been described by the BBC as “not your average tribute show”, they don’t dress up or try to act like Simon and Garfunkel but instead pay tribute to the iconic sound that the duo are famous for by recreating the perfect harmonies, timing and diction that mesmerised a generation. Since their emergence into the entertainment world Dan and Pete, collectively known as Bookends (the name is taken from Simon and Garfunkel’s fourth studio album) have enjoyed huge success and performed to audiences across the UK and Ireland as well as two consecutive sell-out runs at the 2014 and 2015 Edinburgh Festivals.
Watch as these six musicians blend together to create something truly spellbinding. Hear songs such as Homeward Bound, Mrs. Robinson and Bookends’ own powerful, yet subtle arrangement of the classic Bridge Over Troubled Water.
