The Brass Band of the Tri-State, under the direction of Dr. Michael Stroeher, will present its annual spring concert on Tuesday, May 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the Marshall University Smith Music Hall Recital Hall. Admission is free, but donations to support the purchase of band music will be accepted.The program will feature several transcriptions of popular music arranged for brass band including The Olympic Spirit, the 1988 Olympic  theme written by John Williams; Appalachian Mountain Folk Song Suite, Singin’ in the Rain, and I’ve Got Rhythm. The ensemble performs a variety of music encompassing several genres and styles including traditional brass band music from England and North America, original pieces arranged specifically for the band, musicals, marches, orchestral transcriptions, Salvation Army Band music, and popular selections.
