Brown Baggin’ Thru History

April 3, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Free

Cost: FREE Program

Guest Speaker: Greg Brown

Topic: “The Talking Machine Works”

Greg Brown represents a passionate group of people whose interest is in preserving antique phonographs, gramophones and records. If you grew up listening to records on a Victrola or stereo, or even a small “record player” and remember the days before everything was computerized or digitized, you need to meet Greg Brown. He will take us back to the “good old days” before tapes and computers. Join us as we learn more about Greg’s passion for preserving the history of recordings and why he thinks Thomas Edison was a remarkable person, as well as, an inventor.

Greg Brown is a member of the Antique Phonograph Society which is a worldwide society of 1000+ members who share a passion for the preservation of antique phonographs, gramophones and records. They encourage, promote, publish and present research on the history of sound recording and reproduction, including the machines that create and preserve these wonderful voices and sounds. To that end, the Society maintains informative articles on its website which are open to the public, as well as an exhaustive online searchable archive of over 20,000 pages of phonograph and record research material available to members.

This program is free thanks to the generous support of the Washington County Public Library.
