The Fairfield Heritage Association has chosen 10 historic buildings for its annual weekend tour June 24 & 25. The “Beyond Homes” tour will take guests into 7 structures in Downtown Lancaster and 3 in the county that are closely tied to Fairfield County’s history. Buildings on tour include Engine House No. 1, opened in 1899. The city’s first motorized fire truck will be on exhibit. Three of the buildings are in some stage of renovation. Visitors will have a preview of the great things to come. The tour is an important fundraiser for FHA, which owns and operates the Sherman House and Georgian museums and champions preservation, revitalization and education.
