Firefly Author Sara Lewis at the Historic Paxton Theater in Bainbridge

In this evening talk, Sara Lewis, noted biologist, award-winning author, and firefly expert dives into the mysterious world of fireflies and reveals the most up-to-date discoveries about these charismatic insects. Hear her remarkable stories of firefly courtship and romance, poison and even deceit. Program content is sophisticated enough to appeal to adults & interesting enough to engage children, so don’t hesitate to bring the entire family.

Cost: $15 adults, $3 youths 6 to 16, children 5 and under are free. Register online or at the door. For quick entry and confirmed seating, please register ahead.

The talk will be followed by an optional catered dinner and firefly viewing at the Highlands Nature Sanctuary, just 4 miles from the Paxton Theatre. Reservations are required for dinner, and the cost per plate is $20 for adults, $10 for children 6-16, and 5 and under free. During this event, participants will enjoy the dusk calls of the rare Henslow’s sparrows and acoustic music created by invited musicians who will provide a stirring soundtrack for the silent spectacle created by thousands of fireflies arising from the meadows.
