Introduction to Weaving

Using simple handheld looms, class will explore basic weaving techniques that can be applied to all forms of looms. Different types of larger looms will also be presented and pros and cons discussed. Class will include two field trips, one to The Fiber Fun Studio with Lois Wagner, the second to the Kennedy Museum on the Ridges to study its National class collection of Navajo Rugs.

This class will meet on the following dates:

October 1st, 15th, 29th
November 5th and 19th
December 3rd

The 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month class will not meet, but participants are most welcome to attend meetings of the new Weaver’s Support Group, which will meet during the same time slot at the MakerSpace.

Participants should plan to attend all class sessions.

As this is the first time this class is being given, a special fee of only $50.00 is being offered! There is also a materials fee of $25.00. Additional optional materials will be offered at cost but are not necessary for class completion.

You will finish this class with a basic understanding of the principles of weaving and an understanding of the wide world of weaving possibilities.
