Youth Photo Exhibit: Being a Teen Ain’t Easy

December 8, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free

The Athens Photo Project (APP) proudly presents photographs created during summer 2017 by twelve emerging youth artists from Athens county, Ohio.

The exhibit Being a teen ain’t easy, will showcase photographs that reflect the unique perspectives of the artists and will be accompanied by written reflections of their thoughts, desires and challenges.

During the summer workshop the girls learned the basic principles of storytelling; how to use photography to reflect their unique view of the world; and how to use doodling to express their thoughts and ideas. The program created a safe space for these young folks to reflect collectively on their realities and their way of seeing the world by using media and arts as a tool for self-reflection. Throughout the workshop group members were able to identify common interests and share stories related to high school, the arts, friendship, love, the court system, foster care and other aspects of their lives.

Please join us at the Opening Reception to meet the young artists and celebrate their work! The exhibition is free of charge and on display Monday to Friday from 10:00-5:00pm, Dec. 8 – Dec. 15.
