O.U. looking to open Cambridge satellite campus

Ohio University's Interim Executive Dean of Regional Higher Education said discussions are underway to put a satellite campus in Cambridge.
James Fonseca said Cambridge is a good location because its half way between the Zanesville campus and the Eastern campus.
"A possible site has been selected and they're talking with a developer about reconfiguring the building. But it's all very preliminary because we don't have any cost figures yet." said Fonseca.
Fonseca said if all goes according to plan, the new satellite campus would be open in a year.
Ohio Board of Regents data released over the weekend shows that regional campus and community college enrollment has more than tripled over the past decade.
Fonseca said enrollment at O.U.'s regional campuses has gone up about 25 percent overall during the last three years.
He said good access, open admissions and affordable prices are the main reasons for the increase.
"I think it's the fact that kinda regional campuses are coming into their own. It's factors of cost because we have very affordable tuition and a lower rate than the main campuses of which we're a part. The convenience and good location of our campuses, they're central, ya know we have all commuting students." said Fonseca.
Data shows regional campuses and community colleges had 252,000 students last year.
That's up from 74,000 a deacde ago.
