Three people from the Athens County Chapter of the American Red Cross are helping in areas damaged by Hurricane Irene.
Peggy Pruitt is the Director of Emergency Services.
She says two people left last week and went to Middletown, New York.
They are distributing food and clean-up supplies there.
The third person left yesterday and went to New York City.
She is helping with mass care by working in a shelter.
Pruitt says those are the only people being sent from Athens County right now, but there could be more.
"I anticipate other people going," says Pruitt.
She says there may be a need for disaster mental health services and she has sent people from Athens County to assist with that during past disasters.
