Last time Coach Terry Smith and his Yellow Jackets ventured to Wirt County, they found themselves on the wrong end of a 13-10 decision in the second round of the West Virginia class A playoffs. Smith is hoping for a better outcome this time around when his third ranked squad matches up against the second ranked Tigers this upcoming Friday night. “We just need to play smart football, and avoid third and longs on offense”, Smith said.
Another thing Smith and his boys are excited about for Friday night is the atmosphere the game will bring. “Our playoff game last year was great, fans were packed up against the fence”, said Smith. “Wiliamstown fans travel well, so it definitely is going to be a full house and a fun one”.
The defeat in the playoffs wasn’t the only loss the Yellow Jackets took against the Tigers last season. The Tigers also won a 13-7 decision in Williamstown in the regular season. Both teams come into the matchup undefeated and are looking for the number one playoff seed in the class A bracket.
