Update: 2:30 p.m.

Police in Xenia say a man and the woman he abducted have been spotted in Vinton, Jackson and Lawrence Counties in the last 24 hours.

Investigators say the stolen Silver Impala Mark Ferguson, 24, stole after taking Melissa Ferguson, 22, from a Xenia hotel broke down in Lawrence County.

The Impala has now been recovered by Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and impounded.

Police believe that the two are still in the Southeastern Ohio Area.

Witnesses have seen the female victim with Ferguson but police don't know if she's being held against her will.

Police in Xenia say a man who abducted his estranged wife may be in Vinton County.

According a news release, Mark Ferguson, 24, went to the Knight's Inn in Xenia yesterday morning and broke into one of the rooms holding a knife.

Police say he threatened everyone in the room and then took his estranged wife, Melissa Johnson, 22, from the room against her will.

Investigators say they believe Johnson's life is in danger because Ferguson has been violent in the past.

Police believe the two are traveling in a 2003 Silver Chevy Impala.

Investigators say they believe Ferguson might have been headed to the Vinton County area.

Ferguson was already wanted by police for failure to register as a sex offender.
