UPDATE 2:30 p.m. A dispatcher with the Athens post of the Ohio Highway Patrol says State Route 668 is open to traffic following an accident on State Route 93 this morning.
Clean-up crews remain on the scene and workers from the Ohio Department of Transportation are directing traffic.
According to a release from OHP, 33-year-old Mathew Fountain drove his semi truck left of center on State Route 93 and struck the car driven by James Lansing, 49. The accident happened around 7:15 a.m.
The truck, which was loaded with cooking grease, rolled in the accident. The Environmental Protection Agency responded to coordinate the clean-up.
Part of State Route 668 is closed at this hour due to an accident.
