Investigators with the Federal Aviation Administration are looking into a Meigs County plane crash that left a North Carolina man dead.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, officers responded to the fatal plane crash Friday around noon.
The single engine plane crash landed in a wooded area near Rutland.
The pilot, Gerald Chamberlain, 72, of Raeford, North Carolina, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Meigs County Coroner.
Troopers say witnesses told them it sounded like the plane's engines were sputtering, then went silent before crashing.
