Ohio redshirt junior Beau Blankenship was named to the 2012 Phil Steele Midseason All-America Team on Wednesday.

One of only two players from the MAC to be named to the All-America team, Blankenship was selected to the publication’s Fourth Team.

Blankenship is currently ranked third in the nation in total rushing yards with 843 yards on the ground. He is also third in rushing yards per game with an average of 140.5.

Blankenship ranks second in the country in rushing attempts with 181 carries on the season. The running back from Norman, Okla. is only 157 yards short of becoming the eighth running back in school history to eclipse the 1,000-yard milestone in a single season.

In six games, Blankenship has rushed for the aforementioned 843 yards, and six touchdowns.

He is also on pace to break Kalvin McRae’s single season rushing record of 1,434 yards set in 2007. Through six games, McRae had 507 yards. Blankenship is on pace to break Ohio’s all-time single season rushing record.

Ohio takes on Akron this weekend at 2 p.m. at Peden Stadium.
