Unionized employees at Ohio University have accepted a new contract agreement just as their current contract was set to expire.
The University announced the new three-year agreement with members of American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 1699 Friday.
According to the University, some of the changes in the new agreement include two percent wage increases in the first year of the three year contact and an increase in insurance contributions by employees.
AFSCME represents 511 workers on the Athens campus, 17 at the Zanesville campus and 11 on the Chillicothe campus.
AFSCME representatives were not immediately available for comment.
