Was there another earthquake in our region Tuesday morning?

That was the question being asked by some residents in Washington and eastern Athens Counties Tuesday morning as they reported hearing jolts and feeling houses shake.

The Washington County Sheriff's Department dispatched a deputy to Little Hocking but found no damage on the scene.

The Athens County Sheriff's department said there were no official reports and no deputies were dispatched.

A resident of Angel Ridge Road in Athens told WOUB she felt something around noon but was uncertain what it was.

A resident of Burnett Road near Cutler in Washington County said two large booms were heard just before the house shook.

The U.S. Geological Survey had not reported any earthquake activity of a magnitude of 2.5 or above by Tuesday afternoon.

Area residents may be sensitive to blasting and other such ground movement following November's 3.5 confirmed quake just outside Nelsonville.

That was the first recorded quake to hit the area since 1886.
