The Trimble Lady Tomcats fell in heartbreaking fashion on senior night Thursday night, losing to the Miller Lady Falcons, 42-41.

Trimble fell behind quickly due to a strong first quarter effort by Miller’s Ali Bray. Bray tallied nine points in the opening quarter of play hitting three field goals and going three-for-four from the foul line.

Morgan Murphy and Tia Altier each contributed a 3-pointer in the first quarter. Madi Moore added two points while Trista Lackey connected on two baskets. The Lady Tomcats trailed Miller at the end of the first quarter, 16-12.

The second quarter was a defensive battle, as neither team reached a double-digit point total for the quarter. Another Altier 3-pointer, two field goals from Madi Moore, and a basket by Emily Moore totaled the entire Trimble offensive effort.

Sanae Dutiel connected on two field goals in the second quarter to lead the Lady Falcons. A Tessa Pierce free throw was the only other point for Miller as the Falcons lost the second quarter, 9-5.

At halftime, the game was tied at 21 apiece.

The third quarter was a tug-of-war with neither team gaining an inch offensively. Murphy led the Trimble offense during the third quarter by hitting a 3-pointer and going three-for-four from the free throw line.

Miller’s Rebecca Hauk paced the Falcons with a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter. The tied game remained at the end of the third, 34-34.

The final quarter came down to who could make the most of their free throw attempts and make use of each possession.

Trimble hit two field goals and went three-for-six from the free throw line, while Miller went two-for-eight from the charity stripe and connected on three field goal attempts.

The extra successful possession gave Miller the lead with under a minute to play, and the Lady Tomcats were unable to make use of their final possession turning the ball over out of bounds with a second left.

Six Lady Tomcats contributed to the scoring category and were led by Madi Moore with nine points and Trista Lackey with eight points.

Trimble next travels to Wellston on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 3:30p.m.
