Public Viewing for Voinovich

CLEVELAND (AP) — A public viewing will be held in the rotunda of Cleveland City Hall on Thursday for George Voinovich, the former U.S. senator, Ohio governor and Cleveland mayor.

Voinovich died in his sleep last Sunday. He was 79.

The viewing will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday followed by a brief program to honor the well-respected Republican who held various elected offices for more than 40 years.

Current Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Republican U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson are among those expected to speak during the program honoring Voinovich.

A funeral Mass for Voinovich is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Euclid.
