< < Back to mother-accused-leaving-infant-crime-scene-now-facing-drug-chargesThe Albany woman accused of leaving her infant daughter in a car while fleeing the scene of the crime appeared in court today on a drug possession charge.
Cassandra Smith was in Athens County Common Pleas Court facing a possession of heroin charge.
She pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutor Keller Blackburn says Smith was found with Heroin on June 9th.
Her bond was set at $5,000.
Yesterday, Sheriff Pat Kelly said Smith and two men tried to take $5,000 worth of machinery and steel from a farm by loading it on a pickup truck they had taken for a test drive from a local dealership Sunday and never returned.
He said she left her infant behind in a car seat when she ran off on foot.
The child was released to a family member.
