Nelsonville Water Plant Project Gets Go-Ahead
< < Back to nelsonville-water-plant-project-gets-go-aheadNelsonville's plans for a new water treatment plant are moving ahead.
City Manager Joe Scherer is looking for construction to start in January.
Last night, City Council approved a resolution on financing for the project, which Scherer says will cost about $4.3 million dollars.
The biggest chunk of money, $4 million, would come from an Ohio Environmental Protection Agency loan program.
The new plant would be built next to the current one.
It was built in 1934.
Scherer says the new facility will use a treatment process which will produce water with fewer minerals and it will have greater output.
