Licking County Fatal Plane Crash
< < Back to licking-county-fatal-plane-crashPolice say a Licking County man has been killed after the single-engine plane he was flying crashed just after takeoff at Newark-Heath Airport.
Lt. Darrin Blosser of the State Highway Patrol says that the plane was traveling east on the runway just before 7 p.m. Thursday when it suddenly veered south, clipped two trees and crashed into the backyard of a home across the street.
Trapped in the wreckage was Donny L. Asher, 50, of Pataskala.
Fire Chief Mark Huggins said Asher was alive when fire crews arrived, but he died as they were removing him from the wreckage.
Blosser said Asher was the only one on the plane.
