Southern at Federal Hocking

The Federal Hocking Lancers are looking to snap their three game losing streak and get in the win column for the first time this season when they welcome the Southern Tornadoes to town Friday Night. Southern (1-2) is coming off a 20-14 victory over Belpre and is looking to climb to the .500 mark with a win this week.

Federal Hocking is in the midst of a three game homestand and will try and give Doug Miller his first win as head coach of the Lancers. The team has done a much better job of competing in games this year. In their opener, they lost to River Valley by a point and then played a quality Waterford team tough before falling 20-9. Last week, Miller’s new look squad was handled by Sciotoville 34-12.

“We’re looking for someone to step up and be a vocal leader and we think we’ve got that with Kyle Jackson, our starting quarterback this week,” Miller said. “He’s taken the leadership role and should lead us to victory tomorrow night.”

Meanwhile, Southern (1-2) has looked good this season and notched their first win of the year last week 20-14 over Belpre. In head coach Kyle Wickline’s second season, the Tornadoes have battled and stayed in games until the end. They almost stole a victory in South Gallia in week 2, losing 34-30. Sophomore quarterback Danny Ramthum, who accounted for nearly 60 percent of the team’s offense last year, will look to stay hot against the Lancers. If Ramthum can make plays and limit his mistakes, Southern’s offense will be difficult to stop.

Gridiron Glory will be there Friday Night in Stewart, Ohio and will bring you all the highlights and analysis live at 11:30 on WOUB.
