No Drugs Involved In Albany Double-Fatal Accident
< < Back to no-drugs-involved-albany-double-fatal-accidentThere were no drugs or alcohol in the system of a West Virginia man who was involved in an accident that killed an Albany couple.
Mary Hart, 70, and her husband, Fred Hart, 72, were killed in July after their vehicle was struck from behind by a second vehicle driven by William O'Connor, 34, of Fairmont, West Virginia.
Lieutenant Jeff Skinner of the Athens post of the State Highway Patrol says toxicology tests came back Friday showing that there were no drugs in O'Connor's system at the time of the accident.
Tests that came back at the end of August showed there was no alcohol in O'Connor's system either.
The accident happened on U.S. 50 near Albany.
Investigators at the time said "driver inattention" is likely what caused the crash.
Skinner says his troopers are meeting with the Athens County prosecutor early this week to go over the investigation and talk about possible charges against O'Connor.
