Field Hockey: Ohio clinches share of MAC title win win over Miami
< < Back toOhio defeated Miami for the second time this season, staying undefeated in the conference. Ohio added insult to the injury by defeating the Redhawks 1-0 on their own turf this afternoon.
The only goal of the game was scored by Laura Mastro and assisted by Taylor Brown, 23 minutes into the game.
The ‘Cats showed off their impressive team depth as the goal was scored by neither of this week’s MAC award winners. Louzeth Schutte won her fourth weekly award of the season, this week being her first offensive honor. Jessica Jue took home the defensive award in the conference. Five different ladies have won the award for Field Hockey Player of the Week.
Goaltender Jen McGill notched her eighth shutout of the season, and Ohio's fifth straight shutout in MAC play. McGill is currently ranked second in the nation with her impressive goals-against average of .70.
After today’s win, the ladies will, at the least, share the MAC regular season title. The ladies take on Ball State Sunday at 1:00. A win in Muncie will clinch the MAC regular season title for the ‘Cats.
