Field hockey: Ohio matches best record in program history

Andrea Biegalski's 62nd-minute goal helped Ohio end the regular season with a home win. The ‘Cats outshot CMU 15-8, however they allowed 10 penalty corners to the Chippewas.
After Biegalski’s goal, Ohio was forced to stay focused, as CMU had four penalty corners. Goalkeeper Jen McGill had two huge saves, earning her ninth shutout of the season, and sixth of MAC play.
The ladies can go into tournament play with their heads held high as the No. 1 seed and having matched the programs best record in history with their 9-1 record. The last time the ‘Cats had earned such a record, they also went to the NCAA tournament.
Ohio will play the winner of Thursday's first round game between Ball State and Miami. The Bobcats begin their championship quest on Friday at 12 p.m. at Pruitt Field in Athens.
