A 14-year old girl was killed after the vehicle she was riding in struck a tree early Sunday morning.

State Highway Patrol Troopers say Dustin Jones, 21, of Mineral Wells lost control of the vehicle and went sideways off the right side of the road, striking a tree.

The crash happened just off of U.S. 50 in Little Hocking.

Jones and passenger, Madison Fitchett, 14, of Parkersburg, were trapped in the car.

Jones was transported by Little Hocking EMS to Camden Clark Medical Center Memorial Campus in Parkersburg.

Fitchett was transported to Marietta Memorial where she was pronounced dead.

Both were wearing safety belts at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the State Highway Patrol.
