< < Back to washington-county-sewer-association-settles-violationsA Washington County sewer association has agreed to connect to the county's collection system in an effort to settle water pollution violations.
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency reports White Oak Sewer Association had been discharging raw sewage into the South Fork of Wolfe Creek. The violations date back to 2008.
According to a release from the Ohio EPA, the association failed to submit monthly discharge monitoring reports. The Ohio EPA also reports finding an aeration tank blower that was not properly operated.
The sewer association will pay a $10,000 penalty and connect to the county's system no later than December 19.
The Ohio EPA also says White Oak has agreed to abandon the plant and clean the area.
