Nothing Found In Search For Human Remains Along US 35
< < Back to nothing-found-search-human-remains-along-us-35The Kanawha County Sheriff's Office has called off its search for the remains of Carol Rhim.
Investigators say Nathaniel Lawton killed his girlfriend, Carol, last Tuesday. Then, deputies say Lawton cut her body into pieces and then tried to hide them.
Investigators found some of her remains in the trunk of Lawton's car shortly after he shot and killed himself.
Since last Thursday deputies have been searching nearly 40 miles of Route 35 from Point Pleasant all the way to Jackson, Ohio, but they haven't found anything.
According to a news release, deputies called off the search on Monday.
"We are hopeful, citizens will call their local police should they discover any of the parts which could be concealed in black plastic trash bags," Lt. Sean Crosier writes in the release.
One of the family members says he is concerned the search has been called off.
Funeral arrangements are still being made, but family says it will take place in Medina, New York. Rhim's family does, however, plan to have a memorial service in Kanawha County.
