Students on the Ohio University Chillicothe Campus are now using a newly renovated Technology and Business Development Center.

The building serves as a center for students interested in starting up their own business after graduation.

Chillicothe Campus Dean Martin Tuck says the mission of the new building is two-fold.

It was designed to help educate students in the region but it will also be used to support the community by renting out the facility to organizations in town and providing business development programs.

"What we're hoping is both our students and area residents will use that programming to begin businesses which will then be started in the area and then that will create jobs. So, we're hoping that our facility is kind of the beginning point of those operations," says Tuck.

The center is the result of an 8,200 square-foot addition to the Technical Studies Building.

It increases the total size of the building to approximately 13,900 square feet.

The cost of the addition was $2 million.

Tuck says OU Chillicothe is interested in partnering with the College of Business on the Athens campus to provide a certificate in entrepreneurship for students in any major.
