Adena Health System is launching its web-based portal system this week which will give select patients access to online services.

Patients of Dr. Kirk Tucker and Dr. Wayne Coats will be able to access the pilot program called MyAdena.

The portal is intended to improve patient satisfaction by allowing them to access prescription refills, schedule appointments, look at lab results, and message their doctor.

System Director of Clinical Products and Services Bambi Huffman says that MyAdena will fill the demand for consumer or patient driven healthcare.

"We want to make sure that we improve and provide the best patient experience for our patients at Adena Health System, so they can navigate through the website and really have information regarding their personal health record at their fingertips in the privacy of the home, or wherever," says Huffman.

The pilot program will be implemented for four weeks to asses and evaluate any issues before it is opened up to all physicians at Adena.

Huffman says that the roll out plan for the portal will be fully completed by January 2013.
