Name Released In Wood Co. Fatal Stand-off
< < Back to name-released-wood-co-fatal-standThe name of the person killed in a stand-off with local law enforcement officers in Lubeck early Sunday morning has been released.
Wood County Sheriff Jeff Sandy says deputies fatally shot Jody Wilson, 32, who they say they believe was on bath salts.
The standoff began late Saturday night when sheriff's deputies and officers with the West Virginia State Police and the Division of Natural Resources went to the residence. Sandy says they were responding to a 911 call reporting an armed individual.
The officers tried to negotiate with Wilson and get him to leave the residence without any guns. Sandy says he came out with a gun and shot at the officers. Three deputies returned fire.
The deputies are on paid administrative leave pending an investigation by the State Police.
