The Athens County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide-suicide that occurred in Athens this morning.

Sheriff Pat Kelly says in a press release, the 911 communications center received a call around 9 a.m. from a male resident on Alderman Road stating there had been a murder and suicide at the residence.

When asked by the dispatcher what happened, Robert Nusser said "I'm the one that caused it."

The dispatcher asks "you killed the person?" but the line then disconnects.

At 9:35 a.m., the Sheriff's special response team found 68-year-old Nusser and 64-year-old Paulette Nusser dead, each from a single gun shot wound.

Kelly says deputies had served Nusser with an eviction notice on February 25.

Deputies again made contact with the Nussers on March 25 informing them to vacate the residence.

The Nussers recently moved to Athens from Chillicothe.
