< < Back to vinton-co-man-accused-deputy-attack-pleads-not-guiltyA Vinton County man accused of attacking a sheriff's deputy while being transported to jail pleaded not guilty on charges of aggravated robbery, assault and escape.
Richard Puckett was arraigned Wednesday before Judge Michael Ward in Athens County Common Pleas Court.
Puckett faces charges of aggravated robbery, grand theft of a firearm, assault, grand theft of a motor vehicle and escape.
Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn says the charges stem from a March 2 incident in which Puckett attacked the deputy transporting him to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.
Puckett allegedly tried to disarm the deputy, then escaped, stealing the transport vehicle.
Puckett's bond is set at $160,000.
His jury trial is scheduled for May 10.
