An Athens High School student is headed to New York later this month as part of a Google contest.

Some folks from the search engine visited AHS Wednesday to announce Ohio's Doodle for Google contest winner.

Emma McLaughlin is one of 50 students who will travel to New York for a May 17 event as part of the contest.

Her Google logo design puts her in the running for a college scholarship and technology donation for her high school.

McLaughlin's design was inspired by Gutenberg's printing press.

"We had been doing prints and I thought that was fun and I was trying to think of a way to incorporate that. When I was six, I went to Germany and I saw a printing press, so I decided to make a print of a print because I thought that would be a cool idea," said McLaughlin.

If she wins the national contest, her logo will be on the Google homepage for a day.
