WOUB Garners Two Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters Awards
< < Back to woub-garners-two-ohio-associated-press-broadcasters-awardsThe WOUB Public Media has won two second-place awards in the Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters radio and television contest.
WOUB placed in both the Radio and Television Best Website (Small Market) category and the Best Documentary or Series category for "Saving the Snyder," a program produced by Cheri Russo and Jonathan Falk.
WOUB's Director and General Manager Tom Hodson said a new website unveiled in the summer of 2011 has increased WOUB's online presence and interaction with viewers and listeners.
"In a year, our website has more than doubled its unique visitors and page views," Hodson said. "People are not only coming to us for news but they are visiting our site for sports, music, and arts features. Many come to our site several times a day for updates. It has been a terrific success."
"Saving the Snyder," which chronicled the Ohio Historical Society's yearlong restoration of the 100-year-old boat, premiered in Marietta, Ohio, on May 13, 2011.
"The 'Saving the Snyder' documentary is just the tip of the iceberg of what we will be producing regionally here at WOUB," Hodson said.
WOUB was the only university-affiliated station to win awards in the categories, which were announced at a luncheon in Columbus on Sunday, June 3.
