Brian Haines Named Special Teams Coordinator

After two seasons as the Tight Ends Coach/Recruiting Coordinator, Brian Haines will now have a new role with Ohio football. Ohio head coach Frank Solich has named Haines the special teams’ coordinator for the 2012 season.
Haines will be filling the spot left by Pete Germano, who joined the coaching staff at Fresno State. He coaches under former Ohio assistant coach Tim DeRuyter. Germano is the assistant coach in charge of special teams and the defensive line.
In 2007 and 2008, Haines served as an graduate assistant at Ohio, where he worked primarily with the offense. In 2009, he was a graduate assistant at West Virginia. Before his time at Ohio, Haines spent three seasons as an assitant coach at Marietta College, his alma mater. As a 2004 graduate of Marietta, he played wide receiver and still ranks top ten all time in receptions and receiving yards.
Haines has been very influential in the career of tight end Jordan Thompson. In 2011, with Haines help Thompson posted single season career highs in receptions and receiving yards.
