Pair of MAC Quarterbacks Added to Another Watch List
< < Back toAnother day, another watch list. Ohio quarterback Tyler Tettleton has been named to the AllState Sugar Bowl's Manning Award Watch List. Tettleton is joined by fellow MAC quarterback Alex Carder from Western Michigan. Both players were also named to the Davey O'Brien Award Watch List.
The overall Watch List for the Manning award will include 25 of the nation's top quarterbacks and the winner will be announced after the conclusion of bowl season in January. The winner will be announced at a ceremony in New Orleans.
The AllState Sugar Bowl created the Manning award in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is also the only award that includes Bowl performance into consideration in the final balloting.
In his first year as the starter, Tettleton set 12 single season records and became the first quarterback to throw 3,000 yards. Along with the Davey O'Brien Watch List, Tettleton is one of the 33 candidates selected to the 2012 Watch for the 2012 College Football Performance Awards Quarterback Trophy. The junior was named as a 2012 captain for the Bobcats, and is the only junior among three senior captains. He will lead the Bobcats alongside tight end Jordan Thompson, cornerback Travis Carrie, and safety Gerald Moore.
Alex Carder led the Broncos to a Little Caesar's Bowl appearance in 2011 while throwing for a school record 3,873 yards with 31 touchdowns on the year.
Western Michigan and Ohio open their seasons on the road. The Broncos will kick off Sept. 1 at Illinois while the Bobcats travel to State College to take on Penn State.
