Two New Additions For Ohio Volleyball
< < Back toOhio Volleyball kicks off the 2012 season on August 18 with the annual Green and White game, and a few new faces will be joining the 'Cats on the court.
Eastern Kentucky transfer Hannah Burkle and incoming freshmen Carley Jones are just two of the new faces of Ohio volleyball. Burkle is a 6-2 middle blocker and outside hitter and Jones is a defensive specialist.
Burkle, the Crystal Lake, Illinois native, started 31 of 32 matches at EKU and led her team in blocks with 105 on the year.
At her high school, Notre Dame Academy, Jones had 488 digs last season, setting the single season mark. She broke another school record after tallying 1,049 digs for her career.
Jones and fellow frehsman Meredith Ashy played in the same league in high school.
Another addition to the Bobcats for 2012 is Salt Lake Community College transfer Kellie Turner. Turner is a 6-1 outside hitter who played her high school ball at Huntington Beach School in California.
In her time at the junior college level, Turner started 200 games and had 459 kills and 66 aces.
Ashy, Karin Bull, and Abby Gilleland join Jones in Ohio's new freshmen class.
