A capital campaign is underway for Ohio University-Chillicothe with a goal of raising $3.5 million for scholarships and capital improvements.

OU-C Resource Development Coordinator Joyce Atwood says the branch wants to build a connector between Stevenson Center and Bennett Hall that would extend to Shoemaker Center.

Atwood says the current student center area is too small, as more than 1,200 students go through that area each day.

This new Academic Achievement Center would also include a lecture hall for university and public use.

Architectural renderings of the connector will be unveiled in October.
