Ohio Falls in Four Sets

The first set was a close race with 15 ties and nine lead changes, but the Illinois took a 1-0 lead in the match after a 25-23 set one win.
The 'Cats rallied back in set two with a late run to even up the match at one. Leah Petrovich had the kill that won the set for Ohio 25-19.
With the game tied at one, the third set was no different than the first two. The game was tied at 19 after the two teams had traded 12 points back and forth. The game was tied again at 20 two points later, but the Fighting Illini slowly crept ahead to win 25-22 and take a 2-1 match lead.
With momentum from the back and forth third set win, Illinois jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead in set four.
After a timeout, the 'Cats when on at 6-4 run to cut the decifit to three with Illinois up 11-8.
Yet, the Fighting Illini used the cushion of their lead and pushed ahead to take the set and the match 25-18.
Kelly Lamberti paced Ohio with 16 kills and fellow sophomore Chelsea Bilger added 12. Lamberti also had 19 digs for the double-double, and freshman Meredith Ashy led Ohio in digs with 22. Freshman Carley Jones added 10.
Ohio wraps up the Flyer Classic on Sunday August 26 with a afternoon game against Dayton.
