The Alexander Spartans hosted a winless Waverly Tigers, a passing team against a rushing team, and it would be the running Tigers who would prevail defeating the Spartans 28-12.

The Tigers used their legs, running 24 yards on eight carries to march down the field, finishing with a six-yard pass from quarterback Trevon Bolin-Hitchens to wide receiver Paul Underwood ending in a touchdown, giving Waverly the early 8-0 lead after a good two-point conversion.

Alexander’s Gage Miller started of the Spartans first possession with five carries for 58 yards.

Waverly took advantage of the turnover with a reverse to Underwood for 58 yards.

The drive ended with Bolin-Hitchens diving into the end zone for the Tigers second touchdown on the night stretching the score to 16-0, after another good two-point conversion with 10:50 left in the half.

Two possessions later, Miller fumbled with Waverly recovering, only to give the ball back to Alexander with 38 seconds left in the half and the score would remain 16-0 Waverly at halftime.

The Spartans used halftime to their advantage, to end the first possession of the second half with a touchdown but unable to get the extra point leaving the score 16-6, Waverly still on top.

Waverly would answer with another touchdown with their own in the third and like Alexander would not be able to make the extra point, raising the score 22-6.

Keeping their heads in the game, the Spartans would get their second touchdown in fourth quarter, again, unable to get their extra point, closing the gap to ten, 22-12, still Waverly.

The Tigers would end the game with another reverse, this time it would be for 65 yards and a touchdown making the final score 28-12, giving Waverly their first win of the season and Alexander their third lose in the row.
